Japan’s Cities and Regions at WTM 2015

Staged annually in London, World Travel Market – the leading global event for the travel industry – takes place at ExCel London from 2-5 November.

It has been a revolutionary year for tourism to Japan with global visitor numbers up 49% year-on-year for January-August 2015, and the 2015 Post Office Long Haul report released on 26 September showing Tokyo is now 50% cheaper for British travellers than it was in 2013.

This year there will be representatives from the destinations of Okinawa, Kansai, Kyushu and Gifu on the Japan stand (AS370) at World Travel Market (WTM). They will be joining the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), along with hoteliers and ground handlers from Japan.

For the first time at WTM, Japan’s Gifu Prefecture will showcase a range of fantastic attractions – the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site of Shirakawa-go village and Michelin Green Guide: Japan 3-star recipient Takayama you might have heard of, but Gifu Prefecture is also home to wonderful hot spring resorts, top-class cuisine like Hida beef, cormorant fishing, Mino washi paper, traditional sake breweries open to visitors, scenic cycling routes, hiking paths and more.

The Kansai Seminar at WTM takes place at 15:00-16:30 on Monday 2 November (South Gallery 5 at Excel).

And on Tuesday 3 November the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB) will hold a reception from 17:00-18:00 on the Tokyo stand to launch their new brand, “& Tokyo”. Should you wish to attend the reception, please contact info@tokyocityrep.co.uk
