Creating value through local partnerships and the arts

Registrations for this year’s Japan Day Seminar and Local Links Conference in Rochester will close soon, so don’t miss your chance to attend on March 4.

Speakers include Professor Marie Conte-Helm of the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation, who will discuss her longstanding historical research into the vibrant links between Japan and the North East of England. We will also be joined by Secretary-General Kenji Ikeda of the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations, who will update us on the current level of engagement between Japan’s regions and their global partners.

Visuals for the reception are kindly provided by the Rochester campus of the University for the Creative Arts (UCA). The university’s exchange with the Osaka-based UEDA College of Fashion has given students the opportunity to collaborate internationally through fashion and film. In November 2010 they jointly held a successful fashion show in London’s Spitalfields. Recent estimates by UKTI suggest that fashion contributes nearly £21bn to UK economy directly, and over £16bn indirectly.

To register for the event, please contact Phillippa Harvey by email harvey[@]jlgc.org.uk or call us on 020 7839 8500 by Friday February 25.
