Newcastles of the World 2012

There are more than 100 different ‘Newcastles’ or ‘New Castles’ around the globe, in many different countries and in many different languages. ‘Newcastles of the World’ connects citizens and groups from the Newcastles for friendship, for cultural, educational and business exchange, and to share experiences and ideas.

The 2012 gathering in Newcastle upon Tyne, between 21-27 July, will be the largest assembly yet of Newcastles of the World, including core and founder member Shinshiro, Japan.

The event will explore the branding and marketing of the different Newcastles, including the creation of a virtual ‘Newcastles Tourism Network’, so different Newcastles can support each other’s marketing and tourism via a coordinated promotional vehicle, as well as a programme of business-to-business meetings for chambers of commerce, tourism, voluntary sector and civic leaders in the delegations.

The full programme for the event can be downloaded here (PDF).
