The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) is preparing a new plan which can be termed as the \u201cFinancial System Reform in Tokyo \u2013 Tokyo\u2019s Big Bang\u201d in order to regain the status of Asia\u2019s No.1 international financial city, and this new plan will be announced this autumn. Prior to the announcement of the new plan, TMG made public its summary titled \u201cInterim Report on Policy for \u2018Global Financial City Tokyo\u2019\u201d (hereinafter referred to as \u2018the Report\u2019) on June 9.<\/p>\n
In this Report, TMG announced the launch of a new initiative to develop FinTech business, and the initiatives to support the establishment or development of innovative businesses.<\/p>\n

In this context, as mentioned in the Report, TMG would like to gladly inform you that now we launch a new initiative named the \u2018Accelerator Program \u2013 FinTech Business Camp Tokyo\u2019 (hereinafter referred to as \u2018the Program\u2019).<\/p>\n 1 Program features<\/strong><\/p>\n TMG aims to generate ground-breaking innovation to improve convenience for Tokyo\u2019s residents, and re-energize Tokyo\u2019s economy by intensively running the following substantial three-month Program:<\/p>\n 1 To invite and select around five foreign companies with advanced FinTech technologies and business models such as blockchain, AI, etc. (hereinafter referred to as \u2018Foreign Companies\u2019).<\/p>\n 2 To support the Foreign Companies in their creation of business plan, including setting business matchups between the Foreign Companies and Japanese financial institutions, IT vendors, etc.<\/p>\n 3 To host pitch event where Foreign Companies will present their business plans in front of Tokyo-based companies, investors, etc.<\/p>\n 2 Application outline<\/strong><\/p>\n Target companies<\/p>\n Foreign Companies with advanced FinTech technologies and business models (payments, financing, fund management, asset management, insurance, security, etc.) which have not yet been established in Japan.
