{"id":4266,"date":"2014-07-26T19:57:23","date_gmt":"2014-07-26T18:57:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jlgc.org.uk\/en\/?p=4266"},"modified":"2014-07-30T11:10:15","modified_gmt":"2014-07-30T10:10:15","slug":"kizuna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jlgc.org.uk\/en\/jet-programme\/kizuna\/","title":{"rendered":"Forging new bonds between Japanese local areas and Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following his successful dialogue with former JET participants here in London last month, Japan\u2019s Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Yoshitaka Shindo has announced a new scheme to acknowledge the role of the JET Programme in promoting good relations between Japan and participants\u2019 home countries.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme, JET Kizuna (\u2018bond\u2019) Ambassador, sees this year\u2019s 1,450 departing participants certified as \u2018honorary ambassadors\u2019 to perform this new role and cement their attachment to Japan.  Mr Shindo said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe purpose of the \u2018JET Kizuna Ambassador\u2019 scheme is to express our gratitude to JET Programme participants for their effort in the internationalization of Japanese local authorities and also to ask their support in enhancing friendly relations between their own countries and Japan.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso, because JET participants are talented people with great passion and interest in Japan, we are considering helping them find jobs after completing the JET Programme.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This follows the joint declaration by Prime Ministers Shinzo Abe and David Cameron in May on the occasion of Abe\u2019s visit to London, which affirmed the contribution of the JET Programme in actively promoting bilateral ties between the UK and Japan.<\/p>\n<p>JET participants are selected from around 40 countries to fill the post of ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) and SEA (Sports Exchange Advisor) in schools, and CIR (Coordinators for International Relations) for local authorities.
