{"id":1255,"date":"2010-09-21T12:43:26","date_gmt":"2010-09-21T12:43:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jlgc.wordpress.com\/?p=1255"},"modified":"2021-05-19T17:11:52","modified_gmt":"2021-05-19T16:11:52","slug":"led-valley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jlgc.org.uk\/en\/international-exchange\/led-valley\/","title":{"rendered":"LEd Valley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The October issue of <em>Monocle<\/em> magazine has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.monocle.com\/sections\/business\/Magazine-Articles\/Leading-light---Tokushima-Japan\/\">a short feature on Tokushima prefecture<\/a>, which is home to one of Japan\u2019s lesser-known claims to fame \u2013 as the world\u2019s number one LEd-manufacturing centre.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jlgc.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/09\/i37.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/jlgc.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/09\/i37.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"i37\" width=\"148\" height=\"196\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1256\"><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Dubbed LEdValley, local officials plan to build further upon its status. Already, there are 86 LEd-related companies in the region, the most famous being Nichia Corporation, which has nearly 40 per cent of the global white LEd market. In addition, there is a growing number of academic institutions and universities specialising in light technology research.<\/p>\n<p>But its LEd fame is not confined to the industrial: the new annual Tokushima LEd Art Festival was launched this year, with artists including Takura Osaka and Ritsuko Taho exhibiting LEd-inspired creations.
