An English-language television series called Islands of Affluence will be broadcast starting September 3rd on NHK World, available in the UK on Freesat and SKY on Channel 209.<\/p>\n
The Art Setouchi 2010 Festival is now being held in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, and is the world\u2019s first major modern art festival to take place on multiple islands, and it is attracting a great deal attention from all over the world.<\/p>\n
The Seto Inland Sea lies just about in the central part of Japan, and as an important historic location for maritime transportation has seen the coming and going of ships from many places, which has made the islands bustling with activity. The goal of Art Setouchi is to make the Seto Inland Sea into a “Sea of Hope”, by combining modern art with rich island culture and broadcasting the results in order to help revitalize the Setouchi Islands .<\/p>\n
This English-language television series will consist of three installments, where the show\u2019s host will introduce the beautiful scenery of the Seto Inland Sea, Takamatsu, and the islands of the art festival, as well as the artworks that blend seamlessly with the rich culture on the islands and many of the people who have been involved with the festival. The program will also feature interviews with participants from this August\u2019s Setouchi International Symposium 2010, one of the major activities held in conjunction with the art festival.<\/p>\n
