Japan Day Seminar
The
Japan Day Seminar is an annual event organised by the Japan Local
Government Centre to raise awareness of Japan and Japanese local
government and provide a real-time opportunity to exchange information
and ideas on local government policy and best practice concerning both
the UK and Japan.
2011 Japan Day Seminar: Japan and the North East of England – Investing in People and Places
The most
recent Japan Day Seminar
was held in Gateshead, on the 29th July 2011 in
partnership with the Embassy of Japan in the UK and Gateshead Council. The
seminar, under the title of Japan and the North East of England – Investing in People and Places featured talks by Professor Marie Conte-Helm, Director General of the Daiwa-Anglo Foundations; Gateshead Council Leader Cllr Mick Henry; Komatsu UK’s Managing Director Peter Howe; Jun Arima, Director General of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) in London and Dr Sierk Horn of Leeds University.
